What is Dermatos®

Attachment of Dermatos® Prosthetics

Fingers, hands, partial hands, feet and partial feet prosthetics are usually attached by suction and form fitting over the residual limb.

Since Dermatos® prosthetics are custom-made, the fit is extremely comfortable as well as secure. Prosthetic arms or legs can be attached in many different ways. For these prosthetics, each patient is evaluated by an on-staff American Board Certified Prosthetist in order to determine the best suspension option.

A Dermatos® prosthesis can be worn all day before they are removed at the end of the day to allow for the residual limb to breathe.

Covering Existing Prosthetic Devices with Dermatos®

Many patients have become accustomed to the fit and weight of their existing prosthesis but wish to enhance its appearance. In these cases we can create Dermatos® skin to fit over an existing socket or prosthesis without changing the fit.

Existing myoelectric (electronic) and hook prosthetics can also be covered with Dermatos®. Hook wearers can even remove their Dermatos® hand prosthesis and attach the hook when use of the hook is desired.
